Cairo: Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sewilam announced that the ministry is effectively managing the nation’s water resources, with continuous monitoring of water flows to meet the demands of all users while considering the capacity of the national water network.

According to State Information Service Egypt, these remarks were made during a regular meeting of the Permanent Committee for the Regulation of Nile River Revenues. The meeting, chaired by the minister, included senior ministry officials and representatives from the National Water Research Center. The agenda focused on reviewing the status of Nile inflows, assessing the hydrological conditions of the river, and evaluating the volumes of water reaching Lake Nasser. Additionally, the operational procedures of the High Aswan Dam were discussed.

The committee also addressed strategies for managing the water system during the winter season, particularly in response to the current heavy rainfall and flash floods. Sewilam highlighted that ministry departments are working continuously to ensure the efficient operation of irrigation and drainage services across the country. This includes ongoing maintenance such as clearing and dredging canals and drains in various governorates. Efforts are also being made to ensure the readiness of waterways, embankments, pumping stations, and emergency units to handle various situations, as well as maintaining appropriate water levels at the intakes of drinking water and power generation plants.
