Cairo: Following presidential directives, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates, continued his intensive contacts over the past two days with Mr. Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman; Mr. Abbas Araqchi, Foreign Minister of Iran; Mr. Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA); and Mr. Steve Witkopf, the US Special Correspondent for the Middle East, in an effort to promote and reach a negotiated settlement regarding the Iranian nuclear issue.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the United States addressed the importance of de-escalation and containing the rising tensions in the region, the dynamics of harmonious cooperation between the United States and Iran, and the push towards political solutions. It also emphasized the encouragement of cooperation and mutual understandings that address all concerns, thereby contributing to preventing further escalation and tension in the region.
Minister Abdelatty emphasized in his communications the importance of overcoming differences during this critical juncture in the region's history, including preserving security and fulfilling the interests of the region's peoples. The Foreign Minister also stressed that there are no alternatives regarding the dynamics and challenges facing the region, and that the only viable path to security and stability in the region is through sports and diplomacy, ensuring its continued availability to safeguard its security.
Minister Abdelatty affirmed that Egypt will continue its tireless efforts and sincere contacts with both the American and Iranian sides to reach a peaceful settlement that reflects genuine trust and addresses concerns related to the Iranian nuclear program, thus achieving reliable governance for the peoples of the region.
