Cairo: Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem announced plans for a significant enhancement in the Industrial Modernization Center's (IMC) performance, aiming to produce tangible results and establish the Center as a key partner in national industry development.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Hashem emphasized the necessity for swift action and adherence to timelines in overcoming current challenges. He highlighted the importance of streamlining procedural cycles and regulatory processes to expedite returns for the industrial sector. The announcement was made during Hashem's chairing of the IMC's Board of Directors meeting, attended by notable figures including Laila Shehata, Assistant Minister of Industry for Industrial Research and Development, and Hazem Fahmy, the Executive Director of the IMC. The gathering served as a platform to assess the Center's performance and strategize priorities for the future, with Hashem stressing the IMC's pivotal role in industrial development.
The Ministry of Industry is committed to achieving significant progress in critical areas, particularly by strengthening the synergy between scientific research and industry demands. Hashem outlined plans to enhance communication with universities and research centers to convert research outputs into viable industrial solutions. He also advocated for increased use of artificial intelligence and modern technologies to align with global industrial trends.
Hashem disclosed intentions to comprehensively restructure the IMC, focusing on its organizational framework and service delivery system, alongside providing robust financial support to realign its objectives. A committee of experts, in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, will be formed to generate practical initiatives benefiting national industry, ensuring seamless integration of scientific research and industrial application.
He reiterated the urgency of expediting decision-making and immediate responsiveness to the industrial sector's needs, emphasizing clear timelines and streamlined procedures as vital for rapid achievement of goals. The meeting also involved a review of the IMC's proposed work plan, with discussions centered on aligning the plan with the government's program and establishing mechanisms for performance evaluation. The minister concluded by urging collaboration with relevant authorities to advance the State's industrial strategy effectively.
