Cairo: The Cabinet's Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) published an infographic, citing Foreign Policy in Focus, highlighting the impact of tensions in the Strait of Hormuz on global supply chain disruptions and congestion.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the infographic emphasized that the Strait of Hormuz is a critical global energy chokepoint through which about 20 million barrels of oil pass daily. This makes it a significant factor in revealing the vulnerability of the global economy's reliance on energy flows.
The infographic also noted that any crisis in the strait would have rapid and widespread repercussions on energy supplies. These would be reflected in increased prices, higher insurance costs, and transportation disruptions, particularly in the context of rising inflation and food prices.
Furthermore, it highlighted that major maritime routes, including the Suez Canal and the Strait of Hormuz, remain high-risk concentration points. Disruptions in these areas can trigger cascading effects across multiple sectors.
