IDSC: Egypt One of the Safest Countries in ME for Travel Despite Regional Unrest

Cairo: Despite regional tensions, Egypt remains one of the safest countries in the Middle East for travel, according to an infographic released by the Cabinet's Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC). According to State Information Service Egypt, the center noted that both the US Department of State and the Canadian government have classified Egypt at Level 2 in their travel advisories. This classification indicates that the country is generally safe for travelers while following standard precautions, highlighting it as one of the region's safest destinations. US citizens wishing to leave the Middle East can do so via flights from Cairo, the center added, while Canadian authorities confirmed that crime rates in Egypt remain low. The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office reported that major tourist destinations, including Cairo and Red Sea resorts such as Sharm El-Sheikh, Marsa Alam, and Hurghada, are safe to visit. The Spanish Embassy in Cairo affirmed that the security situation in Egy pt is stable, with no alerts issued and airports operating normally. Also, the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs noted that crime rates remain relatively low, and highlighted Egypt as a popular destination for diving tourism.
