Cairo: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar emphasized the state's commitment to strengthening early detection, diagnosis, and specialized care for rare diseases. He highlighted ongoing efforts to expand screening programs for thousands of newborns annually and integrate these initiatives within disability, education, and social protection systems.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdel Ghaffar's remarks came during the launch of the National Strategy for Rare Diseases, held on the sidelines of the 3rd Global Congress on Population, Health and Human Development. Abdel Ghaffar emphasized the importance of advancing scientific research through the Egyptian Genome Project, which aims to identify genetic mutations and support the development of personalized medicine. Furthermore, the project is committed to enhancing social and psychological support for patients and their families.
