Health Minister Launches World Family and Peace Day, Declares 2026 as Year of Family in Egypt


Cairo: Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar inaugurated the World Family and Peace Day celebrations, reaffirming Egypt’s commitment-under President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s leadership-to supporting family development as a core pillar of Egypt Vision 2030.



According to State Information Service Egypt, during the event, the minister emphasized that a healthy family environment is fundamental for education, care, and social stability, referring to the family as the ‘first school of peace.’ He also highlighted Egypt’s role in hosting refugees and migrants, integrating them into the national healthcare system, and ensuring access to primary healthcare, maternal and child health services, and reproductive health awareness.



Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Abla El-Alfy announced that 2026 has been officially designated as the ‘Year of the Family and Peace’ in Egypt. The government, international partners, and civil society will coordinate efforts to empower families, protect children from violence and neglect, promote mental health, and support positive parenting.



The event featured panel discussions focused on ending violence against children and addressing the needs of refugees and migrants. It concluded with the honoring of officials for their efforts in implementing a primary healthcare excellence project in Badrashin, Giza.
