Cairo: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar met with CEO of Siemens Healthineers Egypt Amr Qandil to discuss establishing specialized cancer and radiation treatment centers and enhancing diagnostic and therapeutic services. The minister emphasized expanding advanced medical care to Upper Egypt and remote areas, reducing patient burdens, and ensuring sustainable quality through staff training.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting reviewed updates on upgrading CT, MRI, and cardiac catheterization equipment in ministry hospitals and the near-opening of a new device renewal center in 6th of October City. Siemens presented support for oncology centers in Upper Egypt and Nasser Institute using advanced technologies, including the Halcyon system, which increases treatment capacity, reduces waiting times, and improves service quality. Plans for a centralized radiology control center linking multiple hospitals and additional specialized oncology centers in Upper Egypt were also discussed.
Capacity-building initiatives include training 200 radiology technicians on advanced imaging systems and establishing simulation training centers, modeled on successful programs at Ismailia Health Technical Institute.
