Health Minister Commends Egyptian State’s Partnership with Civil Society in Health Sector

Cairo: Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar lauded the depth of strategic partnership between the Egyptian State and civil society organizations, highlighting their crucial role in developing the health system in Egypt.According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdel Ghaffar made these remarks during a speech he delivered on behalf of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli at a conference held on Wednesday, attended by renowned Egyptian heart surgeon Sir Magdi Yacoub. The minister praised the key humanitarian and patriotic role played by the Magdi Yacoub Global Heart Foundation in treating heart diseases and conducting cardiac research.The minister highlighted that the foundation has emerged as one of the most prominent success stories in Egypt and the wider region, with the Aswan Heart Centre serving as a global medical institution that combines clinical excellence with scientific research. He noted that the center has brought hope and life to thousands of children and patients through adva nced treatment and research services provided free of charge.Abdel Ghaffar emphasized that these achievements reflect the strength of cooperation between state institutions and civil society, underscoring such collaboration as a key pillar for expanding healthcare services and ensuring they reach those in need across the country. He also affirmed the Egyptian State's commitment to strengthening cooperation with leading medical institutions to achieve the highest levels of integration in serving citizens.The minister acknowledged the efforts of surgeon Sir Magdi Yacoub, describing him as a true example of a 'doctor with humanity' and a model of dedication and humanitarian giving both locally and internationally. He concluded by noting that Sir Magdi Yacoub's far-sighted vision, together with the efforts of partners, has led to the establishment of the Global Heart Research Centre in Cairo, which is expected to open soon and will represent a significant addition to supporting the national healthcare system.In response, surgeon Sir Magdi Yacoub expressed his deep appreciation for the prime minister and the health minister, stating that the achievements were made possible through a shared belief in every person's right to life and treatment, regardless of their financial means.
