Cairo: The Foreign Ministers of Egypt, Jordan, the UAE, Indonesia, Pakistan, Trkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar have jointly welcomed the steps taken by Hamas in response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal aimed at ending the ongoing conflict in Gaza. The proposal involves the release of all hostages and the initiation of negotiations on implementation mechanisms.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the ministers also expressed support for President Trump’s call on Israel to cease its bombing campaign and to start implementing the exchange agreement. They highlighted the potential of these developments to create a genuine opportunity for a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire, while addressing the pressing humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.
The ministers further commended Hamas’ announcement of its readiness to transfer Gaza’s administration to a transitional Palestinian Administrative Committee made up of independent technocrats. They stressed the importance of swiftly initiating negoti
ations to finalize the implementation mechanisms of the proposal and to resolve all related aspects.
The joint statement reaffirmed the ministers’ commitment to supporting efforts for the proposal’s implementation, aiming to end the conflict in Gaza. They emphasized the need for a comprehensive agreement ensuring unrestricted humanitarian aid to Gaza, preventing displacement of Palestinians, and safeguarding civilian security. The ministers advocated for the release of hostages, the reinstatement of the Palestinian Authority in Gaza, the unification of Gaza and the West Bank, and the establishment of a security framework that guarantees safety for all parties. This, they believe, would lead to a complete Israeli withdrawal, the rebuilding of Gaza, and pave the way for a just peace based on a two-state solution.
