Moscow: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty stressed Egypt’s full support for Sudan in its prolonged crisis, reaffirming Egypt’s unwavering commitment to preserving Sudan’s unity and territorial integrity. Abdelatty also emphasized Egypt’s support for Sudan’s national institutions, and reiterated Egypt’s rejection of any attempts to undermine the country’s sovereignty or internal cohesion.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty made the remarks during a meeting with Minister of Cabinet Affairs of Sudan Lamia Abdel-Ghaffar, on the margins of the 2nd Ministerial Conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum, which kicked off here on Saturday. ‘The two sides discussed developments in Sudan and ways to support stability and enhance bilateral cooperation and coordination,’ stated Foreign Ministry Spokesman Tamim Khallaf.

Abdelatty stressed Egypt’s support for the Sudanese people, expressing his hope that Sudan would overcome current challenges. He pointed to a recent meeting between President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and President of the Transitional Sovereign Council of Sudan Gen. Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, where they affirmed that Sudan’s unity and stability are a red line that cannot be crossed, and Sudan’s security is an integral part of Egypt’s national security.

Abdelatty reviewed Egypt’s ongoing efforts within the framework of the International Quartet for Sudan, which seeks to support settlement efforts, de-escalate the situation, and create the conditions conducive to reaching a political solution that preserves Sudan’s unity and national institutions while fulfilling the aspirations of its people.

During the meeting, Abdelatty also emphasized the importance of following up on Egypt’s ongoing efforts and projects in Sudan, to support reconstruction and recovery efforts and enhance cooperation in the service and humanitarian fields, thus contributing to alleviating the suffering of the Sudanese people.
