FM Receives the Executive Director of the Arab Countries Group at the World Bank

Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates Dr. Badr Abdelatty, received on Sunday, March 1, 2026, Mr. Abdel Aziz Al-Mulla, Executive Director of the Arab Countries at the World Bank, and Ambassador Hisham Seifeldin, Alternate Executive Director at the World Bank Group. The meeting, held on the sidelines of the World Bank President's visit to Egypt, discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between Egypt and the World Bank.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting reviewed existing cooperation frameworks between Egypt and the World Bank and joint efforts to support economic and social development programs, particularly in the fields of economic reform, private sector empowerment, support for small and medium-sized enterprises, and advancing the green transition and digital transformation.

Minister Abdelatty emphasized the importance of the World Bank's role in supporting development efforts. He praised the ongoing coordination that contributes to advancing the development priorities of Arab countries within the Bank's framework. He noted that such cooperation is vital, given the exceptionally challenging circumstances currently facing the region.

Dr. Abdelatty also outlined Egypt's current priorities, particularly with regard to attracting investments, enhancing the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy, and supporting efforts to achieve sustainable development. He looked forward to continuing the constructive partnership with the World Bank in the coming period.

The Foreign Minister further reaffirmed Egypt's commitment to supporting the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, boosting reconstruction efforts, and providing basic needs. He underscored the necessity of coordinating with the World Bank and international institutions to support development and relief projects in the Strip in a way that improves living conditions and fosters stability.

For his part, the World Bank's representative expressed appreciation for the close cooperation with Egypt, praising Egypt's leading role in supporting security and stability. He affirmed the Bank's commitment to supporting development efforts in Egypt and the region and to advancing their priorities within the World Bank.
