FM Reaffirms Egypt’s Full Support for Lebanon Amid Regional Tensions

Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty made phone talks on Monday, March 2, 2026, with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam. During the call, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's full support for Lebanon and its people amid the current sensitive circumstances and the dangerous military escalation in the region.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Foreign Ministry spokesman Tamim Khallaf stated that Abdelatty expressed Egypt's keenness to check on the situation in Lebanon and follow closely the rapidly unfolding developments on the Lebanese scene in light of the ongoing regional tensions.

Abdelatty listened to a detailed briefing from the Lebanese premier on the repercussions of the Israeli attacks against Lebanon and the threats they pose to the country's security and stability. The foreign minister stressed Egypt's firm position on the importance of sparing Lebanon the risks of escalation, underlining the need for an immediate halt to Israeli military operations.

He also reiterated Egypt's support for respecting Lebanon's sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, as well as safeguarding its security and the capabilities of its people.
