New york: Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Expatriates, praised the strategic partnership between Egypt and Indonesia. This came during his meeting with Sugiono, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia on the sidelines of the foreign minister's visit to New York.According to State Information Service Egypt, Minister Abdelatty expressed his aspiration to continue coordination and consultation on issues of mutual interest and to enhance bilateral cooperation in a way that serves the interests of the two peoples. He also expressed appreciation for Indonesia's participation in the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, affirming Egypt's keenness to continue coordination in multilateral forums.The foreign minister asserted Egypt's interest in participating in the meetings of the Developing Eight (D-8), which Indonesia intends to host as it assumes the group's presidency for the 2026-2027 term. On the economic level, Minister Abdelatty stressed the im portance of ensuring that trade and investment cooperation reflects the distinguished level of bilateral relations, emphasizing the need to increase the volume of trade exchange.He expressed his aspiration to hold a joint business forum with the participation of private sector representatives from both countries, contributing to achieving tangible and practical results in the fields of trade and investment. In this regard, Minister Abdelatty underscored the importance of exchanging expertise in the agricultural sector and working to remove non-tariff barriers that hinder the access of Egyptian food exports to the Indonesian market, in a way that enhances bilateral trade and supports the economic partnership between the two countries.He also renewed Egypt's commitment to strengthening institutional relations with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), taking into account Egypt's signing of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation with the bloc in September 2016. On the cultural front, Minister Abde latty praised the level of cultural and scientific cooperation between the two countries, particularly the growing cooperation with Al-Azhar, reflecting the depth of the civilizational and cultural ties between the two friendly peoples.Regionally, the foreign minister reviewed the latest developments in the Gaza Strip, emphasizing the importance of implementing the requirements of the second phase of the U.S. President's plan, supporting the national committee for administering the Gaza Strip, and swiftly deploying an international stabilization force to monitor the implementation of the ceasefire and ensure the uninterrupted flow of humanitarian aid, paving the way for early recovery and reconstruction. He also stressed the necessity of preserving the unity of Palestinian territories.
