Cairo: Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates, and Dr. Diaa Rashwan, Minister of State for Information, held a comprehensive briefing for regional and international media representatives accredited in Egypt. The session took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in coordination with the Foreign Press Center of the State Information Service (SIS) to clarify Egypt's stance on rapid regional developments and ongoing military escalation.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Minister Abdelatty reviewed Egypt's intensive efforts to reduce regional escalation and contain current tensions, following the directives of the President of the Republic. He emphasized Egypt's commitment to diplomatic tracks and dialogue, asserting solidarity with Gulf partners, Jordan, and Iraq against Iranian aggressions. The Foreign Minister reiterated that Gulf security is integral to Egyptian national security and expressed a rejection of any violation of the sovereignty or security of Arab countries.
Minister Abdelatty discussed Egypt's efforts and communications with the United States and Iran to encourage negotiations, aiming to de-escalate tensions in the region and avoid a global economic recession. He condemned Israeli annexation and settlement policies in the West Bank, highlighting efforts to implement President Trump's plan for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza.
Regarding Lebanon, Minister Abdelatty condemned Israeli incursions in southern Lebanon and stressed the need to implement UN Resolution 1701, supporting state sovereignty and aid to mitigate displacement. On the Sudanese crisis, he reviewed Egypt's coordination with Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and the USA to push for a humanitarian truce and emphasized non-negotiable red lines to protect Sudan's unity and resources.
Dr. Diaa Rashwan highlighted the media's role in objective reporting and noted the alignment between Egypt and Gulf nations. He warned against social media voices inciting discord and emphasized the State's commitment to transparency in media coverage.
The briefing included responses to questions on various topics such as regional military escalation, situations in Lebanon and Sudan, Egyptian water security, and Egypt's international relations.
