Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty lauded the strong relations between Egypt and South Africa as well as the growing momentum and coordination on bilateral and multilateral issues, in line with the directives of the leaderships of both countries.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the remarks came during Abdelatty’s meeting on Sunday, December 21st, 2025, with South African Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Thandi Moraka where they discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations. Abdelatty congratulated the South African official on her country’s successful hosting of the G20 Summit and on South Africa’s effective leadership of the group.
He commended the close coordination between the two sides, which reflected a convergence of views and alignment of positions on key issues. He asserted Egypt’s keenness to continue enhancing bilateral relations and elevating them to the level of a sustainable strategic partnership.
Abdelatty noted that Egyptian companies had secured tenders to implement renewable energy projects in South Africa earlier this year. He also asserted the importance of expanding investment partnerships between the two countries, stressing the need to expedite the completion of the formation of the Egyptian-South African Business Council by the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade.
He emphasized that the reform process should be conducted in a systematic, gradual and transparent manner, based on inclusivity and the participation of all AU member states. The two sides also exchanged views on ways to promote stability, peace, and security across the African continent.
