FM, Jordanian Counterpart Urge Political Process Toward Independent Palestinian State

New york: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Badr Abdelatty and Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi stressed the importance of finding conditions leading to a serious and credible political process to establish an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem (Al Quds) as its capital, in a way that achieves security and stability in the region.

According to State Information Service Egypt, this discussion took place during a meeting held by the two ministers in New York. They focused on enhancing coordination and consultation between the two countries on regional issues of mutual concern, as well as preparing for the first meeting of the Peace Board in Washington.

The ministers reviewed developments in the Gaza Strip, emphasizing the necessity of implementing the second phase of U.S. President Donald Trump's plan. They highlighted the importance of the National Committee for Gaza Administration fulfilling its duties within the Strip, the quick deployment of an international stability force to monitor ceasefire implementation, ensuring a steady flow of humanitarian aid, and facilitating early recovery and reconstruction while maintaining the unity of the Palestinian territories.

Additionally, they condemned Israeli decisions to annex land in the occupied West Bank and expand settlement activities, labeling them as clear violations of international law.

The ministers also praised the historic relations and close ties between their countries. They expressed a commitment to continue close political consultation and intensify coordination, reflecting the special nature of Egyptian-Jordanian relations and their vital role in supporting regional security and stability.
