Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's full solidarity with the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the brotherly Kingdom of Bahrain in confronting any Iranian attacks or threats that affect the security and sovereignty of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and other Gulf countries. This stems from Egypt's steadfast position that the security of the Arab Gulf is an integral part of Egypt's national security.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the foreign minister's remarks came during contacts with Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Bahraini Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani as part of ongoing consultations regarding rapidly evolving regional developments. Abdelatty expressed Egypt's condemnation of the recent attack targeting the brotherly Kingdom of Bahrain.
He emphasized the need to continue intensifying efforts to stop attacks on the brotherly Gulf States and to prevent the region from sliding into widespread chaos with unpredictable consequences that would harm regional and international security and peace. In this context, the foreign minister stressed the importance of de-escalation, reaffirming the need to strengthen coordination and joint action to contain the current crisis and establish the foundations of stability.
The two contacts also underlined the importance of maintaining freedom of maritime navigation and securing international trade routes. In this context, developments related to Red Sea security were discussed, where Abdelatty highlighted the importance of enhancing coordination among the littoral states to maintain the security and stability of this vital maritime passage.
He stressed Egypt's firm position that governance arrangements for the Red Sea should be limited to the coastal states and rejected any attempts to impose external roles in its management, as this contributes to regional stability and the protection of global trade flows.
