Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty said that Egypt will continue to expand cooperation with the Green Climate Fund (GCF) to support developing countries' access to climate finance, particularly African nations. Abdelatty made the remarks during a meeting with GCF Executive Director Mafalda Duarte on the sidelines of the African Summit.
According to State Information Service Egypt, during the talks, they addressed ways to strengthen cooperation and increase the share of climate finance directed to developing states to support mitigation and adaptation projects. For his part, Abdelatty stated that the GCF plays an important role in financing climate-related projects in developing countries and stressed the need to direct a larger portion of climate funding through specialized operational entities, especially the Green Climate Fund.
