FM Discusses Regional Developments with French and EU Officials

According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty reviewed the outcome of the Islamabad meetings held within the quadrilateral framework involving Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan. These meetings aimed to contain the escalation and prevent the expansion of the conflict. Abdelatty also outlined Egypt’s mediation efforts, in cooperation with Turkey and Pakistan, to initiate direct negotiations between Iran and the US. The goal is to contain the current military confrontation, reduce tensions, and prioritize diplomacy and dialogue to prevent the region from descending into chaos.

The conversations also covered the economic implications of the ongoing war on both the global and regional economies. European officials highlighted cooperation programs between Egypt and the European Union, noting Egypt’s economic resilience despite the impact of military escalation on global economic growth, particularly due to rising energy and food prices and disruptions in supply chains.

Abdelatty emphasized the Egyptian economy’s strong resilience in facing the repercussions of regional military escalation. He credited this resilience to the structural and monetary reforms implemented by the Egyptian government in recent years, which helped absorb the resulting shocks. He expressed confidence in Egypt’s ability to overcome the current crisis, citing the country’s history of overcoming regional challenges.

Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to continuing economic reforms and fostering an investment-friendly environment amid the security and stability that the country maintains despite current regional conditions. Both sides agreed to intensify efforts to support de-escalation initiatives in the region and to further advance Egyptian-European strategic, economic, and financial relations.
