Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty has expressed aspirations to attract more European investments, facilitate the access of Egyptian exports to European markets, and strengthen private-sector partnerships between Egypt and Europe. He made these remarks during a meeting with former President of the European Council Charles Michel.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting involved discussions on promoting relations and addressing the latest regional developments. Abdelatty praised the convening of the first Egypt-EU Summit, held in Brussels on October 22, highlighting the shared interest in strengthening the strategic and comprehensive partnership established in March 2024.
The two parties exchanged views on several regional issues, particularly the developments in the Gaza Strip. Abdelatty reviewed Egypt’s ongoing efforts to uphold the ceasefire agreement in accordance with the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Agreement. He stressed the importance of
implementing UN Security Council Resolution 2803 on Gaza to enable the International Stabilization Force to perform its duties and ensure the unobstructed delivery of humanitarian, medical, and relief aid.
Abdelatty emphasized the necessity of establishing a political framework that aligns with the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people, focusing on their right to self-determination. He noted that a two-state solution and the establishment of a Palestinian state are fundamental to achieving regional stability. The meeting also covered developments in Sudan and Syria, as well as the Iranian nuclear issue. Abdelatty underscored Egypt’s commitment to promoting peace, security, and stability in the region.
