Gaza: The Palestinian National Liberation Movement (Fatah) has firmly rejected any form of external guardianship over the Palestinian people, emphasizing that opposing a unified Palestinian authority would only serve to deepen internal divisions.
According to Nam News Network, Fatah stated that international involvement should be limited to monitoring the ceasefire and overseeing reconstruction within a predetermined timeframe. The movement emphasized that security in Gaza must remain under the jurisdiction of official Palestinian security forces. Additionally, any deployment of international troops should be restricted to border areas under a clear United Nations Security Council mandate, ensuring no infringement on Palestinian sovereignty.
The stance comes amidst opposition from Israel and the United States to any future role for Hamas in governing Gaza, alongside demands for Hamas disarmament. Despite the ceasefire, both Israel and Hamas have accused each other of violations, with nearly 100 Palestinians reported killed since the ceasefire took effect on October 11.
