Rafah: The Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC) announced on Monday, February 2, 2026, that it has raised its level of readiness at the Rafah Land Crossing, coinciding with the official commencement of the crossing’s operation from the Palestinian side for the passage of individuals. It has deployed its response teams to receive patients and wounded persons arriving from the Gaza Strip and to see off individuals who have recovered.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the Egyptian Red Crescent affirmed its full readiness to provide humanitarian services to patients, the wounded, and the injured, and to accompany them during the completion of crossing procedures, in preparation for their receiving the necessary healthcare in Egyptian hospitals. This is being carried out in full coordination with the relevant authorities, foremost among them the Ministries of Health and Population and Social Solidarity.
In this context, the Red Crescent has prepared to provide its relief services within the two humanitarian service centers in the arrival and departure halls at the Rafah Land Crossing, by equipping safe spaces to deliver psychological support services for children, providing wheelchairs, and offering escort services for patients, the wounded, and the elderly, in addition to family tracing and reunification services.
The Red Crescent has also prepared a mobile humanitarian kitchen to provide hot meals distributed immediately upon receiving Palestinian brothers and sisters arriving and departing, alongside the provision of heavy clothing and personal care supplies. The Red Crescent welcomed Palestinian patients and wounded with flowers and chocolate, distributed gifts to children, and bid farewell to those who had recovered with a ‘return bag,’ which includes blankets and covers, personal care and hygiene supplies, and dry food items.
The Red Crescent continues to dispatch the 128th convoy of ‘Zad Al-Ezza from Egypt to Gaza,’ which carried tons of comprehensive humanitarian aid, including food parcels and flour, relief and medical supplies, petroleum products, as well as winter supplies such as winter clothing, blankets, and tents. This comes amid a state of continuous round-the-clock readiness to provide all forms of humanitarian support to Palestinian brothers and sisters, as part of the role undertaken by the Egyptian Red Crescent as the national mechanism for coordinating humanitarian assistance to the Gaza Strip.
The Egyptian Red Crescent has been present at the border since the beginning of the crisis. The Rafah Crossing on the Egyptian side has never been fully closed, and the organization has maintained its readiness at all logistical centers, continuing its efforts to deliver humanitarian and relief aid exceeding 800,000 tons, through the efforts of more than 65,000 volunteers of the association.
