Egypt’s Hassan Moustafa Re-Elected IHF President for Seventh Term


Cairo: Dr. Hassan Moustafa was re-elected president of the International Handball Federation (IHF) for a new term running from 2025 to 2029, marking his seventh consecutive tenure at the helm of the sport, the federation said.



According to State Information Service Egypt, Moustafa secured 129 votes at the IHF’s 40th Ordinary Congress in the New Administrative Capital, outperforming candidates from Slovenia (24 votes), Germany (20 votes), and the Netherlands (3 votes). A total of 176 national federations out of 211 eligible participated, making it one of the largest assemblies in IHF history.



Moustafa, who has led the federation since 2000, has overseen the expansion and development of handball worldwide, strengthening national federations and boosting the sport’s technical and administrative standards. His re-election underscores the international confidence in his leadership and the stability of the IHF’s global administration.
