Egyptian-Russian Meeting Reviews Progress and Timeline of Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant

Cairo: Chairman of the Nuclear Power Plants Authority (NPPA) Sherif Helmy held a meeting with Andrey Petrov, the first deputy director general for nuclear energy and president of ASE company, a subsidiary of Russia's Rosatom, to discuss the developments of the Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant project.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting, attended by senior officials from the authority and representatives of entities involved in the project, focused on the adherence to the implementation schedule of the project. Helmy emphasized that the El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant is a strategic national project for Egypt, prioritized within the framework of efforts to diversify energy sources and promote sustainable development.

The NPPA issued a statement indicating that discussions during the meeting addressed the progress of ongoing work at the site, the implementation rate of the four nuclear power units, and future work plans. The meeting also covered mechanisms for joint coordination to ensure continued implementation in accordance with the planned timetable.

Helmy highlighted the importance of complying with the specified timelines while maintaining high standards of quality and nuclear safety throughout all stages of the project. In response, Petrov expressed appreciation for the cooperation between the Egyptian and Russian parties, reaffirming Rosatom's commitment to providing technical and technological support to ensure the project aligns with international best practices and standards for nuclear power plant construction.
