Cairo: Egypt’s embassy in Mali has successfully coordinated the return of two Egyptian nationals who were stranded in the small town of Kenieba, about 350 km from Bamako, following intensive coordination with Malian authorities and the Malian air force, the foreign ministry said in a press release on Friday, 9/1/2026.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the evacuation was carried out as part of the embassy’s ongoing, daily monitoring of the situation of the Egyptian community in Mali. The foreign ministry, through its embassy in Bamako, renewed its call on Egyptian citizens residing in or visiting Mali to strictly follow local laws and instructions, carry identification at all times, and exercise maximum caution.
The ministry also urged Egyptians to avoid traveling or moving outside the capital, or between cities and regions, at this time to keep themselves safe, according to the statement.
