New delhi: Egypt's Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Raafat Hindy, announced the country's initiative to enhance collaboration with African and Arab nations to expand the influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) projects. He emphasized that countries from the Global South should actively participate in the global AI transformation by fostering a unified vision.
According to State Information Service Egypt, during the leaders' session of the AI Impact Summit 2026 in India, Minister Hindy articulated Egypt's commitment to the ethical and human-focused deployment of AI to drive development and collective prosperity. He reaffirmed Egypt's endorsement of the summit's New Delhi Declaration, which seeks to guide AI's role in sustainable development.
Minister Hindy highlighted Egypt's adoption of a national AI strategy in 2019, aimed at embedding AI solutions across various sectors such as healthcare, education, justice, and governmental services. This strategic initiative has notably enhanced Egypt's position in global AI readiness assessments.
Furthermore, Minister Hindy mentioned that Egypt is actively participating in shaping the summit's conclusions and is serving as co-chair of the AI Resource Democracy Working Group. This role is part of Egypt's broader efforts to foster international cooperation and governance in the realm of artificial intelligence.
