Egypt Intensifies Engagement with African Human Rights Mechanisms

Addis ababa: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty affirmed Egypt's keenness to further intensify constructive engagement with African human rights mechanisms and enhance channels of dialogue and joint cooperation.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the minister's remarks came during a meeting with Litha Musyimi-Ogana, Commissioner at the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights, on the sidelines of the African Union Summit held in Addis Ababa. Abdelatty congratulated the commissioner on her re-election to the post.

The Minister appreciated Musyimi-Ogana's visit to Egypt last year, which offered a chance to assess national efforts aimed at promoting and protecting human rights. Abdelatty also expressed readiness to share best practices and expertise with other African countries in the human rights field, particularly in developing reform and rehabilitation centers, contributing to national human rights strategies, supporting women's empowerment, and strengthening child protection.
