Egypt Inaugurates 8th Cairo Water Week Under President El-Sisi’s Patronage


Cairo: Egypt inaugurated the 8th edition of Cairo Water Week under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. The event, held under the theme ‘Innovative Solutions for Climate Change Resilience and Water Sustainability,’ brings together ministers, policymakers, international experts, private sector representatives, and civil society.

According to State Information Service Egypt, President El-Sisi delivered a recorded address at the opening of the event, emphasizing the critical importance of water for Egypt. He highlighted that over 98% of the Egyptian population relies on the Nile River as their sole external water source. The President underscored the increasing global water-related challenges such as rising demand, shrinking resources, poor management, and the severe impact of climate change.

President El-Sisi called for enhanced cross-border cooperation in managing shared water resources, emphasizing the need for global dialogue and cooperation on water security. He warmly welcomed attendees to ‘t
he land of the Nile,’ describing the forum as a global platform for thought leadership and collaboration. He noted that Cairo Water Week has become a beacon for unifying efforts to protect water, a vital resource essential for life and existence.
