Sharm el-sheikh: Egypt expressed its deep condolences to the Qatari government and people following a fatal traffic accident involving Qatari Amiri Diwan officials overnight. ‘Egypt affirms its full solidarity with sisterly Qatar in this tragic incident,’ the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, praying for mercy for the deceased officials and wishing a speedy recovery for the injured.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the driver lost control of the vehicle, although the cause of the incident has not been officially confirmed. The accident resulted in the deaths of three Qatari Amiri Diwan officials, while two others sustained injuries and were transferred to Sharm El-Sheikh International Hospital.
The Qatari Embassy in Cairo mourned the victims, acknowledging their loss while performing official duties. The embassy noted plans to transport both the deceased and the injured to Doha aboard a Qatari plane.
The deceased officials were identified as Saud bin Thamir Al Thani, Abdullah Ghanim Al Khayareen, and Hassan Jabir Al Jabir. The embassy expressed gratitude to Egyptian authorities for their cooperation, close monitoring of the incident, and the assistance provided.
Egyptian authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.
