Egypt: Egypt has strongly condemned the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by the Israeli Minister of National Security. In a statement issued on April 7, 2026, the foreign ministry described the move as a dangerous escalation, an unacceptable provocation, and a flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law, affirming Egypt's full rejection of such practices, which infringe upon the sanctity of Islamic holy sites in East Jerusalem (al-Quds).
According to State Information Service Egypt, Egypt emphasized that Al-Aqsa Mosque, in its entirety, is an exclusive place of worship for Muslims and stressed that any attempts to impose a new fait accompli are null, void, and unacceptable. The statement further underscored that Israel has no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem.
Egypt also expressed deep concern over the continued restrictions imposed on worshippers' access to Al-Aqsa Mosque and the curtailment of freedom of worship. The statement noted that such measures constitute a grave violation of international law, fuel tensions, and risk igniting further escalation in the occupied Palestinian territories.
