Cairo: The Arab Republic of Egypt has issued a strong condemnation of the recent Israeli ground incursion into southern Lebanon. Egypt views this action as a clear violation of Lebanese sovereignty and a breach of international law and the United Nations Charter. The Egyptian government has expressed its full solidarity with Lebanon during this critical time and has reiterated its firm stance against any violation of Lebanon's territorial integrity.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the Egyptian government has emphasized its unwavering support for Lebanon's unity and sovereignty. It has called for the immediate and complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from all Lebanese territories. Furthermore, Egypt has urged for the full and non-selective implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701. This resolution is crucial for enabling Lebanese state institutions, particularly the Lebanese Armed Forces, to assert state authority across the country's territory effectively.
Egypt has also voiced its demand for a comprehensive cessation of all Israeli military operations against Lebanon, including ground incursions and airstrikes targeting Beirut and other regions. The Egyptian government has condemned the targeting of United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) personnel and facilities, stating that such actions are in violation of international law and norms.
The Egyptian authorities have warned that the ongoing escalation is exacerbating the humanitarian crisis, increasing civilian suffering, and has already resulted in the forced displacement of hundreds of thousands. Egypt has called on the international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council, to take urgent action to compel Israel to halt its military actions and restore calm. Egypt stresses that such measures are essential to prevent further deterioration of the security and humanitarian situation and to avoid the grave consequences of an expanding conflict in the region.
