Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptians Abroad Badr Abdelatty and Qatar's Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi stressed the priority of de-escalation and containing rising regional tensions during talks held here on Tuesday. The two sides met on the margins of the preparatory session for the international conference to support the Lebanese Armed Forces and Internal Security Forces, hosted by Egypt.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the top diplomats underscored the importance of giving precedence to political and diplomatic tracks while addressing regional crises, calling for stronger Arab coordination to restore security and stability. Reviewing bilateral relations, the ministers hailed the strong ties between Egypt and Qatar. They affirmed a mutual commitment to continued coordination and consultation to serve mutual interests.
Discussions also covered Lebanon, where both sides shared views on unifying international efforts to support Lebanese state institutions. Abdelatty reiterated support for the Lebanese army and implementation of UN Resolution 1701. The ministers also discussed developments in Sudan, stressing the need to intensify efforts toward a humanitarian truce leading to a ceasefire, ensure unhindered aid delivery, and preserve Sudan's unity, territorial integrity, and state institutions.
