Egypt and India Discuss Boosting Cooperation in Industry and Transport

Cairo: Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development Kamel El-Wazir met with Jagat Prakash Nadda, India's Minister of Health, Chemicals and Fertilizers, and his accompanying delegation to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in the fields of industry and transport. The meeting was attended by Suresh Reddy, India's Ambassador to Egypt, Dr. Nahed Youssef, Head of the Industrial Development Authority, senior officials from the Ministries of Industry and Transport, and representatives of several Indian companies.

According to State Information Service Egypt, El-Wazir affirmed Egypt's openness to cooperation with Indian companies seeking new investments in promising industries identified by the Ministry of Industry. He highlighted significant opportunities for technology transfer and local manufacturing aimed at meeting domestic demand. Furthermore, El-Wazir expressed Egypt's readiness to cooperate with India in the sectors of ports, maritime transport, and logistics zones, emphasizing the availability of attractive investment prospects in these sectors.

The minister noted that industrial cooperation could be strengthened through joint ventures to manufacture phosphate fertilizers and other chemical and petrochemical products, leveraging Egypt's raw materials such as phosphate. He instructed the head of the Industrial Affairs Sector to coordinate with the Indian Embassy in Cairo to accelerate collaboration between Egyptian and Indian firms, particularly in fertilizers and PVC production.

Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda underlined India's keenness to deepen economic ties with Egypt, noting that his delegation includes companies specializing in phosphate fertilizers and pharmaceuticals interested in exploring investment opportunities in Egypt.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation in industry and transport, removing obstacles to joint projects, and maintaining coordination to achieve economic integration and sustainable development, strengthening Egypt's and India's positions as key industrial and logistical hubs in the region.
