Egypt and Germany Discuss Strengthening Health Cooperation at World Health Summit


Berlin: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar met with Germany’s Federal Minister of Health Nina Farken on the sidelines of the World Health Summit 2025. The meeting focused on ways to enhance joint cooperation between the two countries across various healthcare fields.



According to State Information Service Egypt, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, stated that the talks reviewed the current status of Egyptian-German cooperation in areas such as healthcare services, pharmaceutical manufacturing, biological products, and vaccines.



Both sides also followed up on the implementation of previous agreements and explored new prospects for collaboration, including the exchange of expertise in preventive, therapeutic, and primary healthcare, health crisis management, and joint responses to epidemics and emerging health threats.



The discussions also addressed mechanisms to strengthen cooperation in disease prevention strategies for both communicable and non-communicable diseases, with the aim of reducing their impact on public health. The two ministers agreed on the importance of encouraging joint production of vaccines, medicines, and medical supplies, and promoting collaboration between specialized medical institutes, research centers, and training facilities affiliated with both ministries.



The meeting further explored opportunities for cooperation in achieving universal health coverage, implementing the ‘One Health’ strategy, developing digital healthcare services, and establishing smart, environmentally sustainable healthcare facilities. The two sides also discussed prospects for collaboration in medical tourism.



Abdel Ghaffar reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to strengthening its strategic partnership with Germany to advance sustainable health development goals and enhance the quality of healthcare services provided to citizens in both nations.
