Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty engaged in discussions with Equatorial Guinea’s Foreign Minister Simeon Oyono Esono, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing coordination on mutual interests.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty highlighted the momentum in relations between the two nations, emphasizing a shared commitment to broadening these ties to benefit both countries and their citizens. He discussed the ongoing support and capacity-building efforts for Equatorial Guinea’s security personnel and reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to continue supporting security and institutional capabilities.
Abdelatty pointed out the significance of increasing trade and creating opportunities for Egyptian companies in Equatorial Guinea’s development projects, particularly in infrastructure, construction, and social housing. He expressed Egypt’s readiness to collaborate on priority projects, leveraging the expertise of Egyptian firms
across Africa.
In addition, Abdelatty noted Egypt’s willingness to assist in diplomatic training, including the potential establishment of a diplomatic academy in Malabo, capitalizing on Egypt’s experience in this area. He also emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation in the medical sector, particularly in pharmaceutical manufacturing, and the deployment of Egyptian doctors and experts.
The discussions also covered the development of cooperation in civil aviation to support sustainable development and strengthen institutional connections between the two countries. Abdelatty highlighted the necessity of close coordination on African issues, particularly the reform of the African Union, to improve its effectiveness.
He stated that the reforms should be methodical, gradual, clear, and inclusive, involving all member states. The ministers exchanged views on promoting stability, peace, and security across Africa, emphasizing the importance of continued bilateral and multilateral coordination, especial
ly within the African Union, to advance shared interests and achieve sustainable development.
