Cairo: Egypt’s Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Alaa Farouk, met on Monday, December 22, 2025, with Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan and his delegation to explore ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in agriculture. The meeting was part of Egypt’s efforts to broaden its international partnerships. Deputy Minister of Agriculture Mostafa El-Sayyad also attended.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the talks focused on boosting joint agricultural investment, encouraging greater involvement by the private sector and business communities in both countries. Discussions covered cooperation in key areas such as seed production, land reclamation, and the rational use of water reces.
Farouk emphasized the importance of facilitating mutual investor visits, organizing investment forums, and holding workshops to identify practical opportunities. Consequently, Egypt’s major national agricultural projects and prospects for joint ventures based on modern irrigation and farming techniques were highlighted as key priorities for exploration.
The Egyptian minister further noted the strong international reputation of Egyptian agricultural products, as well as Egypt’s readiness to meet Armenia’s requirements for strategic commodities, fruits, and vegetables.
It was decided to launch joint training programs for technical staff, coordinated through agricultural research centers in Egypt and Armenia.
For his part, the Armenian minister praised Egypt’s significant progress in its agricultural sector. He voiced his country’s desire to deepen economic partnership and benefit from Egypt’s expertise, especially in land reclamation and water efficiency.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the sixth session of the Egyptian-Armenian Joint Committee for Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, currently hosted by Egypt.
