Dar Al-Ifta Confirms Friday as First Day of Eidul-Fitr

Cairo: Egypt's Dar Al-Ifta announced that Friday will be the first day of Eidul-Fitr and the first of Shawwal 1447 AH, following the confirmed sighting of the crescent moon on Thursday, March 19, 2026 evening.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Dar Al-Ifta stated that its Sharia and scientific committees, deployed nationwide, conducted moon sighting in accordance with established religious and scientific methods, confirming visibility under favorable conditions. The institution emphasized that the announcement falls within its mandate to determine the beginning of Hijri months in line with the provisions of Islamic law.

The institution called on Muslims to seize the blessed occasion to promote values of compassion, tolerance, family cohesion, and solidarity with the most vulnerable groups. Meanwhile, Egypt's Mufti Nazir Ayyad extended his sincere greetings to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, the Egyptian people, and the Arab and Islamic nations on the occasion, praying for continued goodness, blessings, and prosperity.
