Committee Convened to Address Presidential Concerns Over Criminal Procedure Law


Cairo: The first meeting of a special committee tasked with re-examining the articles of the draft Criminal Procedure Law, which were objected to by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, was held under the leadership of Ahmed Saad El-Din, First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.



According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting saw the participation of key figures including the ministers of Justice and those responsible for parliamentary, legal, and political communication affairs. Also present were the president of the Bar Association and representatives from the ministries of Interior and Communications, the Public Prosecution, the Supreme Judicial Council, the National Council for Human Rights, and the Faculty of Law at Cairo University.



During the meeting, Saad El-Din expressed appreciation for President El Sisi’s dedication to meticulously reviewing the provisions of draft laws prior to their ratification. He emphasized that this approach exemplifies a strategic vision aimed at fortifying the rule of law within the framework of the new republic.



Furthermore, Saad El-Din acknowledged the extensive efforts made by the Minister of Justice and the Minister of Parliamentary and Legal Affairs over the past two years in the discussions concerning the Draft Criminal Procedure Law.
