Egypt continues opening Rafah crossing till Thursday

The Egyptian authorities on Tuesday continued an exceptional opening of the Rafah border crossing for the tenth day in a row to allow the entry of the stranded, patients and humanitarian cases as well as the wounded coming from the Gaza Strip, in addition to assistance offered to the Palestinians.

The Rafah terminal was open from both sides today to facilitate the entry of Palestinian, Arab and foreign stranded from the coastal enclave, said reliable sources.

The crossing also received the injured and humanitarian cases from Gaza, the sources said, adding it allows the passage of humanitarian aid into the Strip as per the political leadership’s directives.

The terminal will remain open until Thursday, according to the sources.

Sisi reviews all axes of ‘Decent Life’ national project

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met Sunday with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli as well as ministers and officials responsible for the “Decent Life” national project.

During the meeting, Sisi directed to provide all the factors for success for the giant project, as well as to unify and coordinate efforts between all the competent government bodies and NGOs to achieve its main goal by providing a decent life for every citizen in need in the Egyptian countryside.

Sisi also directed to provide all resources, equipment, machines, and manpower from all specializations for the benefit of the project in its various axes.

The President reviewed all the axes of the Egyptian Rural Development Project; the largest project of its kind in the world.

The project aims to improve all aspects of life and their quality in 4,584 villages and their dependencies, where about 58% of the total population of Egypt reside, at an estimated cost of EGP 700 billion.

It is implemented by integration between all state agencies, private sector institutions and development partners in Egypt.

The project’s axes cover the fields of utilities and Infrastructure, services, social and cultural development, and economic improvement.

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has launched the mega national project under the Decent Life Initiative to develop more than 3,500 villages in three years.

The project, which targets 1,500 villages in its first phase, seeks to upgrade infrastructure in villages, including water, sewage, power, natural gas and road services.

It also includes lining irrigation canals for the effective use of water and improving healthcare, education and social protection services.

The mega rural development project, which costs EGP 515 billion in three years, is expected to represent an unprecedented quantum leap in the history of rural development in Egypt.

Minister: EGP 260 mln added to health ministry’s budget to fight Covid-19

Planning and Economic Development Minister Hala El Saeed agreed Saturday 22/05/2021 to increase the budget of the health ministry to supply advanced medical equipment by EGP 260 million.

The additional appropriation seeks to fulfill hospitals’ urgent needs in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic by boosting bed capacity with 1,000 ICU beds and supplying 500 additional ventilators.

In a press release, Saeed underlined the importance of upgrading the national healthcare system and improving the quality of healthcare services, noting that the fallout from the pandemic revealed the vital importance of an effective and resilient healthcare sector.

Saeed highlighted a 205 per cent increase in the total sum dedicated to the health ministry’s investments in the 2021/2022 plan, at EGP 47.5 billion, compared to last year’s plan.

Prominent among the health ministry’s initiatives under this year’s plan are the completion of 23 hospital projects and establishing 20 blood-plasma collection centers, along with a central strategic storage facility to achieve self-sufficiency of plasma-derived products, the minister pointed out.

PM, DMG Mori chairman mull boosting use of German technology

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli met Saturday 22/05/2021 with the chairman of Germany’s DMG Mori Executive Board.

The meeting tackled ways to boost cooperation with the German firm to enhance the use of German technology in Egypt and transfer expertise and technology to the country.

Minister of Industry, Trade and Small Industries Nevin Gamea and President of the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) Abdel Moneim Altras attended the meeting.

DMG Mori and AOI have reached a partnership agreement to establish a Computer Numerical Controls (CNC) factory in Egypt; the first of its kind in Africa.

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi fully supports efforts to boost cooperation with the German firm, Madbouli said.

The President affirmed his keenness to transmit the culture and principles of productive work, mastery and concern for accuracy, he added.

Gazette publishes PM’s decision on extending anti-coronavirus precautions

The official gazette on Friday published Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli ‘s decision on extending precautionary measures against the novel coronavirus to stem a rise in the virus’ infections.

Under the decision, all shops, restaurants and cafes should close at 9 pm, as well as clubs, gyms, cinemas and theaters.

The virus measures that will come into effect as of May 22 to May 31, include banning all artistic and cultural events, in addition to holding wedding parties and other social events only in the open air.

The ministerial decision allowed the re-opening of public beaches, parks and gardens, while taking all health precautions.

Manama, May 17 (BNA): His Highness  Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS), and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) has received a cable of congratulations from Egyptian Ambassador to Bahrain Yasser Mohammed Shaaban, on the issuance of a royal decree, by His Majesty the King,  appointing him as Board of Directors Chairman of the General Sports Authority (GSA).

Egypt Will “Spare No Effort” To Reach Ceasefire In Gaza: FM

CAIRO, May 17 (NNN-MENA) – Egyptian Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry, said yesterday that, his country will spare no effort to reach a ceasefire in the Palestinian enclave of the Gaza Strip.

“Egypt will support peace efforts until the Palestinian people obtain their legitimate rights, and the region enjoys the stability that all our peoples seek,” Shoukry told a United Nations Security Council meeting, through videoconference, on the ongoing Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip.

He pointed out that, the Israeli military operation threatens the future of peace and stability in the region, calling on the UN Security Council to take up its responsibilities to end the current conflict.

The Egyptian minister noted, there can be no peace in the region without finding a just and sustainable solution to the Palestinian issue, stressing that “the solution is the two-state solution that is acceptable to all parties.”

He affirmed that Egypt believes that, achieving security and peace in the region can only be possible through establishing an independent Palestinian state, on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Over the past week, the armed conflict between Israel and the Hamas-led groups in Gaza, has been escalating, marking the fiercest fighting between the two sides since 2014.– NNN-MENA

PM follows up plans of developing Giza’s southern area

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli has stressed the importance of developing the southern area of Giza city with modern re-planning taking into consideration the urban movement, roads and axes as part of the state development plan.

Madbouli’s statements came during a meeting Monday to follow up the plan of developing Giza’s southern area in the presence of Minister of Housing Assem El Gazzar and state senior officials.

The prime minister approved a number of proposals to ease traffic in Giza with the aim of facilitating the movement of citizens and goods.

Cabinet Spokesman Nader Saad said the plan of developing Giza’s southern zone aims at raising the value of lands and making use of areas overlooking the Nile river.

He said the development plans also include making use of investment opportunities on the Upper Egypt road.
