Cairo, Peking Universities Discuss Strategic Partnership


Cairo: Cairo University received a high-level delegation from Peking University as part of efforts to enhance academic and scientific cooperation between the two sides, marking the second official meeting between the two universities in less than a year following Cairo University President Mohamed Sami Abdel Sadeq’s visit to Peking University in December.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the visit comes as a continuation of understandings reached during talks between the Cairo University president and Peking University President Zhong Zhi Huang, along with vice presidents and deans from several faculties. Both sides discussed prospects for joint cooperation in launching dual postgraduate programs in a number of specializations.

The two sides agreed on details of the planned academic programs following a series of extensive meetings conducted through specialized working groups that included faculty deans and representatives from relevant academic sectors from both universities.

Proposed areas o
f cooperation include postgraduate programs in medical sciences, particularly public health and nursing, as well as economics and business administration through international master’s programs, including the Global MBA and the Global Master in Management (MiM). Cooperation will also cover computer science and artificial intelligence, in addition to archaeology through joint supervision of postgraduate students and linking academic study with field applications.

Both sides affirmed that the programs will be taught in English, with study years divided between Cairo and Beijing, and will comply with international academic standards in light of the global standing of both universities.
