Cairo: The Cabinet, during its meeting on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, under Prime Minister Dr Mostafa Madbouly, approved the continuation of procedures related to offering the wind-power electricity generation stations in the Gabal El-Zeit area with a capacity of 580 megawatts and affiliated with the New and Renewable Energy Authority within the framework of the government’s asset-privatization program.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Mohamed El-Homosany, the official spokesperson for the Cabinet, stated that this approval reaffirms the government’s commitment to progressing with the privatization program previously announced. This initiative is part of the national strategy to increase the private sector’s contribution to economic activity, expand ownership, and ensure the optimal use and development of state assets.
El-Homosany emphasized that the Egyptian government continues to implement the privatization program with the goal of broadening the ownership base of companies and enhancing the attractiveness of the Egyptian market for both local and foreign investments. The program aims to improve the efficiency of state-owned assets, maximize their economic returns, and promote greater transparency and good governance.
He further explained that the government is advancing the program, which includes offering stakes in several major companies operating in the sectors of energy, logistics, industry, and telecommunications. This initiative runs in parallel with the economic and structural reforms being undertaken by the state to stimulate growth, create new job opportunities, and strengthen the ability of the Egyptian economy to attract additional investments.
