Agriculture Minister Orders Increase in Goods at Lower Prices for Ramadan

Cairo: Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk announced the ministry’s comprehensive plan to prepare for the holy month of Ramadan, asserting that the highest level of readiness was raised across all production sectors and ministry-affiliated outlets.

According to State Information Service Egypt, this step is part of implementing the political leadership’s directives to reduce the burden on citizens by offering high-quality food commodities at competitive prices and helping to stabilize and lower prices. Farouk gave directives to pump additional quantities of meat (fresh, chilled, and frozen), poultry, rice, cooking oils, legumes, eggs, and Ramadan seasonal goods across all fixed ministry outlets located at the Agricultural Research Center and the agricultural and land reclamation directorates nationwide.

He also decided to deploy mobile outlets targeting remote and high-need areas, public squares, and densely populated districts, offering goods at discounts of up to 25% compared to market prices. This aligns with the ‘From Farm to Consumer’ policy, which aims to reduce middlemen and lower final prices.
