Cairo: Sharm El-Sheikh Summit on Gaza will witness the signing of a peace agreement to end the war in the Gaza Strip, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry announced in a statement on Sunday, October 12, 2025. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, Badr Abdelatty, contacted a number of his counterparts from Arab, Islamic, European, and Asian countries as part of the preparations for the upcoming Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit on Gaza, scheduled to take place on Monday, October 13, 2025.
According to State Information Service Egypt, during a series of phone calls, Minister Abdelatty extended the joint invitation of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and U.S. President Donald Trump to world leaders to participate in the summit. The gathering is expected to culminate in the signing of a historic document aimed at ending the war in the Gaza Strip, the Foreign Ministry added in the statement.
Minister Abdelatty also discussed the substantive arrangements for the summit, describing it as ‘a historic opportunity to end the conflict in Gaza and open a new chapter of peace and security in the region.’ The summit is expected to play a pivotal role in restoring regional stability and alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza, in line with President Trump’s vision for peace and his ongoing efforts to foster stability in the Middle East and beyond, the statement continued.
Additionally, Minister Abdelatty held a phone call with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, during which they reviewed the latest developments and coordination efforts related to the summit, which will be held under the joint Egyptian-American presidency.
Leaders of more than 20 countries will participate in the Sharm El-Sheikh Summit for Peace, set to be co-chaired by Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and US President Donald Trump on Monday, the Egyptian Presidency confirmed. The summit, the Presidency added, comes within the framework of Trump’s vision for peace in the region and his ongoing efforts to end global conflicts. It aims to end the Gaza war, advance peace and stability in the Middle East, and open a new chapter of regional cooperation and security, the statement added.
The summit follows a ceasefire and prisoner-swap deal reached between Israel and Hamas after intensive indirect talks in Sharm El-Sheikh over recent days, halting a two-year war that has killed more than 67,000 Palestinians.
