Agricultural sector witnesses unprecedented support from political leadership

Agriculture and Land Reclamation Minister el Sayyed el Quseir asserted that the agricultural sector in Egypt witnessed an unprecedented support from the political leadership within the past eight years via asserting the pivotal role of the sector in the national economy.

In statements to MENA, Quseir said that the interest of the political leadership in the agricultural sector is reflected in increasing the governmental investments to the sector in the recent years and implementing several major national agricultural projects, in addition to following up the performance in the agricultural sector.

The agricultural sector represents a cornerstone to the national economy, he said, adding that it contributes to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by over 15% and it is a main source of income and employment, according to him.

Egypt, WB discuss national strategy for industrial development

Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir said that his ministry aims at making the national strategy for developing the Egyptian industry sustainable, flexible and capable of dealing with the accelerating global changes in addition to drawing on the experiences of other countries while devising its plans to do so.

This came during Samir’s meeting with a group of representatives of the World Bank (WB) led by Country Director for Egypt, Yemen and Djibouti Marina Wes to discuss the general frameworks of the national strategy to develop the Egyptian industry.

The strategy aims at promoting the Egyptian industry and establishing a distinguished trademark in the mind of consumers across the world, he said.

The Ministry of Trade and Industry launched a number of sectoral policies to be used in charting the new strategy, he pointed out.

The meeting tackled the main axes of the strategy which include deepening local manufacturing, developing exports to the different foreign markets especially the African ones and increasing the contribution of the industrial sector to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

Meanwhile, Wes welcomed cooperation with the Egyptian government to draw up this important strategy, asserting the keenness of the WB to boost cooperation frameworks with Egypt.

Youth ministry receives participants in 3rd Arab girls forum

The Ministry of Youth and Sports has received delegations from countries participating in the third Arab girls forum, the first event in the 2023 Arab youth year.

This comes in accordance with recommendations from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi with regard to designating 2023 as the Arab youth year, the Ministry of Youth and Sports said in a statement Thursday 26/1/2023.

The forum, to run till February 1, is organized in cooperation with the Arab League and the Arab Women Organization, it added.

The event is attended by girls from Jordan, the UAE, Bahrain, Algeria, Sudan, Somalia, Iraq, Kuwait, Yemen, Tunisia, Oman, Syria, Palestine, Qatar, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, in addition to Egypt.
