Saeed, Davos Forum managing director discuss bilateral cooperation

Egyptian Planning Minister Hala el Saeed had talks on Thursday 19/1/2023 with Saadia Zahidi, Managing Director of the World Economic Forum, on the fringe of the 53rd World Economic Forum in Davos.

During the meeting, Saeed reviewed the ministry’s efforts, topped by the initiatives launched as well as the ministry’s role in preparing sustainable development plans for long, medium, and short terms.

She also highlighted the efforts exerted by the ministry in formulating Egypt Vision 2030 as well as following up the presidential initiative Decent Life.

She also underscored the ministry’s contribution to the national initiative for smart green projects.

The talks also tackled means of cooperation with the Davos Forum in alliances and workshops.

PM lauds EGSA’s vital roles on sustainable development

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli has praised the pivotal role played by the Egyptian Space Agency (EGSA) to promote efforts to realize the sustainable development goals.

The premier’s remarks came on Wednesday 18/1/2023 when he chaired the EGSA board meeting in its new headquarters in the presence of Communications Minister Amr Talaat, Higher Education Minister Ayman Ashour, CEO of EGSA Sherief Sedqi and members of the agency.

For his part, Sedqi reviewed achievements made by the agency, highlighting the implementation of ‘Space City’ project and the construction of the African Space Agency (AfSA) building in the city.

Cairo, Goldman Sachs Group probe fostering cooperation

Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala el-Saeed has discussed during a meeting with Executive Vice President of Goldman Sachs Group Inc John Rogers and the group’s global head of sustainability and inclusive growth Dina Powell ways of cooperation between the two sides.

The meeting was held on the fringes of the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2023 in Davos.

Saeed briefed the two officials on Egypt’s efforts to create an environment that attracts domestic and foreign private investments, support the business environment, and strengthen the private sector’s role as one of the main axes of Egypt’s National Structural Reform Program (NSRP).

She also pointed out to the role played by the Sovereign Fund of Egypt in developing projects of renewable energy, green hydrogen and green infrastructure.

The minister noted that the transition to green economy has become necessary to confront unprecedented global challenges in recent times, especially those related to climate change.

In this regard, Saeed pointed out that the Egyptian State attaches paramount importance to climate change issues in light of its efforts to achieve comprehensive and sustainable development.

The meeting touched on the current global conditions that have affected all countries across the world, geopolitical crises, economic changes, and the repercussions of Covid-19.

Egypt, UAE discuss preparations for World Government Summit

Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala el-Saeed has discussed during a meeting with UAE’s Minister of Cabinet Affairs Mohammad al-Gergawi preparations for the World Government Summit, slated to be held in Dubai in February.

The meeting was held Thursday on the fringes of the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2023 in Davos.

The two ministers discussed fields of cooperation between both countries, in addition to Egypt’s participation in the World Government Summit as the guest of honor.

Praising the strength of Egypt-UAE historical relations in several fields, Saeed said the World Government Summit will be an opportunity for deepening cooperation and building new partnerships between the two countries.

Egypt under Sisi’s leaderships backs global peace

Awqaf Minister Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa has stressed that Egypt under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s leadership backs global peace.

Gomaa made the remarks in statements to MENA Thursday 19/1/2023 at the end of the third Forum of the African Conference for Peace in Nouakchott.

He said Egypt builds peace regionally and internationally.

The minister also called for combating terrorism and uprooting its sources.

Meanwhile, Egyptian Ambassador to Mauritania Khaled Youssef held a dinner banquet to mark Gomaa’s participation in the forum.

Several Arab diplomats in Mauritania attended the banquet alongside a number of Mauritanian officials.
