State adopted successful policies in dealing with illegal immigration file: Immigration minister

The State has adopted successful and effective policies in dealing with the illegal immigration file, in light of its keenness on abiding by international conventions, affirmed Minister of State for Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates’ Affairs Soha Gendy.

The State has also managed to put an end to the flow of illegal immigration and tighten control at naval and land borders, added the minister during the opening of the workshop of Morocco-based African Migration Observatory, which is organized by the observatory’s director Namira Negm.

The workshop aims to draw up a strategy to track the number of immigrants through establishing a unified database for the African countries.

During her speech, the minister said that she looks forward to cooperating with the observatory in exerting more sincere efforts to advance joint African action in the various African Union’s countries, a matter which will contribute to attaining tangible progress in the various spheres.

The minister also said that she is keen on cooperating with the various governments in supporting the immigration’s initiatives in order to enhance the knowledge base of the African continent on migration and mobility.

Gendy, meanwhile, voiced appreciation to Negm, extending greetings to her for being the first director of the observatory in Rabat.

Egypt, UNESCO probe means to cement cooperation

Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ayman Ashour has discussed with Head of the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Sciences in Arab States Nuria Sanz mechanisms of cooperation in areas of higher education, scientific research and innovation.

Ashour said in a statement on Monday19/12/2022 that his ministry prioritizes supporting study programs and carrying out mutual research projects with a view to realizing Egypt Vision 2030 and the sustainable development strategy.

The ministry is also keen to cooperate with different ministries and various economic sectors to meet development needs of the society, he added.

In this regard, he noted that the higher education ministry has so far opened 10 technology universities and works on establishing a technology university in each governorate.

Meanwhile, Sanz lauded cooperation between UNESCO and the higher education ministry, stressing the importance of cooperation among higher education institutions to encourage women and girls to study sciences.

Egypt, Italy discuss mechanisms of scientific, technological cooperation

Minister of Higher Education Ayman Ashour said that the future vision of the system of higher education and scientific research (2022-2023) aims at paying attention to globalizing the higher education and increasing the partnership with the international prominent universities especially in the field of technology in light of the fast technological progress.

This came during Ashour’s meeting with Italian Ambassador to Egypt Michele Quaroni to discuss the mechanisms of scientific and technological cooperation between Egypt and Italy.

Ashour lauded the distinguished ties between Egypt and Italy, asserting the strength of scientific and educational ties between both countries especially in the fields of higher education and scientific research. This is in addition to the importance of continuing the implementation of the scientific projects between Egypt and Italy and benefiting from the Italian expertise in the fields of engineering, energy and technological education.

Ashour reviewed the strategy of higher education and scientific research, which copes with achieving the targets of sustainable development (Egypt Vision 2030).

He said that Egypt has 27 governmental universities, 27 private universities, 20 non-profit national universities, 10 technological universities and 7 branches of international universities in the New Administrative Capital, asserting that the Ministry of Higher Education implemented an ambitious plan to expand the availability of higher education and cope with the increasing population.

Higher Education Minister calls for providing scientific atmosphere for health, environment researchers

Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ayman Ashour has stressed the importance of providing a scientific atmosphere for the health and environment researchers.

In a statement issued on Tuesday 20/12/2022 by the ministry on the occasion of holding Theodor Bilharz Research Institute conference 2022 under theme “merging technology in the health and environment fields” the minister said his ministry attaches special importance to scientific research centers and institutes which he said play an important role in serving the economy and industry as well as the citizens.

For her part, Dr Hanan Khafagy, the director of Theodor Bilharz Research Institute and chairperson of the conference, said lectures were given and workshops were organized during the gathering for researchers from various universities and centers.
