EHA: Sharm El Sheikh Int’l Hospital wins diamond champion certificate of AHF’s initiative

Chairperson of the Egypt Healthcare Authority Ahmed El Sobki announced on Tuesday 29/11/2022 that Sharm El Sheikh International Hospital has won the diamond champion certificate for the green hospitals category as part of the Arab Hospitals’ Federation (AHF)’s initiative of “Climate Change Challenges Champion”.

In statements on Tuesday 29/11/2022, El Sobki appreciated the state’s efforts to upgrade Sharm El Sheikh International Hospital to be able to win the diamond champion certificate along with receiving the quality certification from the Health Accreditation Authority and becoming a member of the Global Green and Health Hospitals (GGHH).

Sobki also commended the AHF efforts in developing and supporting the health care services in the Arab world, noting that Sharm El Sheikh Hospital’s winning the diamond champion certificate reflected the Arabs’ confidence in Egypt’s progressing on the right track and its health facilities’ ability to compete with the Arab and international health centers.

Gov’t denies reducing working days in state administrative apparatus

The Cabinet denied reports about reducing working days in the state administrative apparatus to three days.

It also denied reports claiming that salaries will be decreased coinciding with the relocation to the New Administrative Capital.

The Cabinet Media Center said that it has contacted with the Central Agency for Organization and Administration, which totally denied these reports, asserting that they are baseless and bare of truth.

No decisions have been issued in this respect, it said, affirming that official working hours in the various state institutions are intact.

The salaries of all employees in different positions and ranks in the government service will not be reduced, it further said.

The center, meanwhile, urged all employees at the state administrative apparatus not to be deceived by such reports and to obtain information from its official sources.

3 Egyptian female researchers win L’Oreal-UNESCO science award

Three Egyptian women have earned L’Oréal-UNESCO Fellowship For Women In Science National Awards for their scientific achievements, joining other notable women from all around the world.

The award ceremony took place on Tuesday29/11/2022 at Abdeen Palace, eastern downtown Cairo, in the presence of Vice President of the Academy of Scientific Research & Technology (ASRT) Amr Farouk.

Mai Taha, a post-doctoral pharmacy student at Cairo University, has won the fellowship award for her research on using nanotechnology to help in effectively eliminating antibiotic resistant bacteria and treating diabetic foot.

Meanwhile, Aya Atef, another post-doctoral pharmacy student at Tanta University, won the fellowship award for finding natural polymers with a molecular footprint that help patients of phenylketonuria (PKU), a rare genetic disease in children.

For her part, Mai Gamal, a doctoral student and research assistant at the German University in Cairo (GUC) Computer Science and Engineering Program, won the fellowship award for her research on using computer modelling for developing neuroimaging biomarkers to understand and diagnose depression as a mental disorder.

Head of the Scientific Research Committee at the National Council for Women and former minister of scientific research Nadia Zakhary, UNESCO office representative in Egypt, and the director-general of L’Oreal Egypt have attended the ceremony, along with a host of senior officials from research centers and institutes.

IDSC: Egypt jumps 42 positions in 2022 GovTech Index

The Cabinet’s Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) said Wednesday Egypt jumped 42 positions in 2020-2022 GovTech Maturity Index.

According to an IDSC statement issued Wednesday, the flagship report presents a global snapshot of GovTech maturity across 198 economies.

Egypt has a diverse set of good practice examples and entry points for enhancing GovTech, making big progress in terms of government technology maturity, the statement said.

Egypt came in a top position with big investments and good practices in the field of government technology, it added.

PM witnesses signing of renewable energy agreements

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli witnessed, 30-11-2022, signing ceremony of financial closure agreements between the Emirati company “AMEA Power” and a number of international financing institutions, at a value of $1.1 billion.

These agreements are marking the start of the implementation of two projects to produce electricity from renewable energy, in the Jabal Al-Zeit area of Al-Bahr Al Ahmar Governorate, and Kom Ombo in Aswan Governorate; With a production capacity of 1000 megawatts.
