PM follows up progress of development projects in Port Said

Prime Minister Mostafa Madboui on Saturday 26/11/2022 followed up on a number of projects under construction in the Suez Canal Governorate of Port Said.

During a meeting earlier today, Governor of Port Said Adel el Ghadban briefed the premier on the progress made in some projects, including those being carried out in cooperation with civil society and non-governmental organizations.

The governor also reviewed development proposals for Al Ma’doum Triangle area, taking into account the social background of local residents, until establishing an urban community as part of the presidential “Decent Life” rural development initiative.

The meeting also addressed the outcomes of a recent visit by representatives of China’s Mengana company to the governorate to explore joint cooperation opportunities, and another visit by Britain’s Hydro Industries for cooperation on industrial wastewater treatment.

PM reviews developments in renewable, green hydrogen projects

Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli stressed the state’s interest in projects being implemented in the fields of new and renewable energy.

He also underlined the state’s keenness on offering better incentives to lure more local and foreign investments to implement these projects and expand the already existing ones.

He made the remarks on Saturday during a meeting on Saturday 26/11/2022 with Electricity and Renewable Energy Minister Mohamed Shaker on renewable energy and green hydrogen production projects.

During the meeting, Shaker reviewed ongoing new and renewable energy projects, referring to the Benban solar energy plant which is the largest in Africa and the Middle East and the fourth at the international level.

He noted that the volume of investments in the Benban plant hit dlrs 2 billion and contributed to creating 10,000 jobs.

He added that the photovoltaic power project contributed to cutting greenhouse gas emissions by 2 million tons annually.

He also referred to ongoing efforts in wind energy projects, including the Ras Ghareb wind stations at dlrs 380 million with a capacity of 250 megawatts, noting that this falls within the framework of the outcome of the 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27).

He also cited green hydrogen projects as well as the successful operation of a GE LM6000 aeroderivative gas turbine on hydrogen–natural gas blended fuel at the Sharm El Sheikh Power Plant.

Historic Post Office in Ataba reopened

Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat on Saturday 26/11/2022 inaugurated Cairo’s historic main post office at Ataba, after completing its development and restoration process with an innovative vision to preserve its historic value and original architectural design, as well as provide it with the latest systems and technological solutions to provide all financial, postal, government and digital services.

The development project of 3,500 post offices nationwide will be completed by the end of 2022, Egypt Post Chairman Sherif Farouq said.

Manpower Minister: President Sisi supports workers with unprecedented measures

Manpower Minister Hassan Shehata said Saturday 26/11/2022 President Abdel Fattah El Sisi is supporting workers in all state sectors with a series of unprecedented measures to face impacts of global crisis.

The President adopted several measures to raise living standards of workers and provide decent life for them over the past years, added Shehata in an interview with MENA Board Chairman and Editor-in-Chief Ali Hassan.

The minister commended President Sisi’s directives to promote and expand social protection programs in order to reach the most vulnerable brackets.

Shehata underscored the ministry’s utmost keenness on implementing all policies to create clean workplace environment and raise public awareness about the importance of safety of workers, in addition to honing skills of the workers to meet work market requirements.

The minister stressed that the state is keen to provide all forms of support for protect irregular workers under President Sisi’s directives.

Shehata lauded the launch of the national dialogue as an important step toward the state’s keenness to respect opinions of all categories.

He praised the great roles played by the employee emergency fund, noting that it spent some EGP2.1 billion to help more than 421,000 workers in nearly 4,000 institutions.

The ministry works on developing the infrastructure of recruitment firms to cut unemployment rates, he said, noting that the ministry provided more than 17,000 job opportunities within three months.

He stressed that the Manpower Ministry is keen to enact a labor law on striking a balance between all parties of the production process.

The ministry has nine labor representation bureaus abroad to serve more than 4 million nationals, while some EGP326.3 million of Egyptian expats’ financial dues have been restored.

Cairo respects labor-related treaties as Egypt has not been black listed on this score, he said, asserting that the Manpower Ministry does not interfere in the affairs of trade unions.

Egyptian workers’ remittance hit $31.9 billion in the fiscal year of 2021-2022.

The ministry aims to create a well-trained generation of workers to serve development and production in the new republic, Shehata added.

Local Development Minister follows up Port Said development projects

Minister of Local Development Hisham Amna met Saturday 26/11/2022 with Port Said Governor Adel el Ghadban to follow up on projects of the 2022/2023 investment plan in the governorate.

During the meeting, the minister ordered accelerating work and removing any obstacles to achieve a better life for citizens.

Amna was keen to follow up on the efforts made by bodies concerned in the governorate to push forward the investment and industry file and to overcome any obstacles facing businessmen and investors to expand existing projects and establish new ones, thus contributing to providing job opportunities for the people of Port Said and neighboring governorates.

He also affirmed the government’s keenness to support the development process and open multiple industry prospects in the governorate in light of the economic advantages it enjoys, especially in the Suez Canal, East, West and South Port Said economic zones.

Decent Life, SCU sign protocol on enhancing development partnership

The “Decent Life” foundation and the Supreme Council of Universities (SCU) have signed a cooperation protocol on enhancing their strategic development partnership and improving the quality of living conditions in villages in accordance with directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

The two sides seek to exert joint efforts to improve educational, health and economic services in the most needy villages.

They seek also to provide needy families with all necessary services to be engaged in productive work, thus contributing to achieving decent life for vulnerable families.

Under the protocol, various convoys in the fields of health, veterinary and agriculture will be dispatched to the underprivileged villages to provide their residents with different services.

For the SCU part, it will implement various training programs in different Egyptian universities with the aim of upskilling citizens in rural areas to be able to partake in the fields of technology and digital transformation within the labor market.

The SCU also will work with the faculty of engineering to carry out a number of architecture designs that will help to innovate and develop these villages.

Diplomat says Egypt made unprecedented progress in promoting women rights

Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid said Egypt made an unprecedented progress in protecting and promoting women rights, thanks to the enlightened political will that respects them and sees that the protection and empowerment of women as a national duty and an inherent human right.

The spokesman made the remarks on his Twitter account to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, which is observed on November 25 of each year.

Awqaf, education ministers honor 74 winners in cultural contest

Awqaf Minister Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa and Education and Technical Education Minister Reda Hegazi on Saturday 26/11/2022 honored 74 winners of a joint cultural contest.

Delivering a speech, Awqaf Minister Gomaa said his ministry launched several activities to raise awareness among children and promote their culture, referring to the issuance of a children cultural magazine.

For his part, the Education Minister stressed the importance of having students capable of learning by themselves and acquiring knowledge and skills to be able to face the challenges of their time in a rapidly developing world.

He underlined that awareness has become an important issue in the current age.
