Egypt PM follows up social protection programs

Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli said on Thursday 24/11/2022 the State is going ahead with the implementation of the strategy set by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to achieve overall development and improve living standards of needy people despite challenges prompted by global crises.

Madbouli’s remarks came during a meeting with Finance Minister Mohamed Maait and Social Solidarity Minister Nevine Kabbag to follow up social protection programs in the Fiscal Year 2022/2023.

He said the State is keen on securing requirements of social protection, health and education programs, adding that allocations for social protection programs were increased during the current fiscal year.

He added that the government seeks to develop these programs to provide more protection to most vulnerable people.

Kabbag reviewed during the meeting the ministry’s plans within the coming period.

Health Ministry: Centers of genetic diseases in newborns up to 42

Many children were examined as part of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s initiative for the early detection of genetic diseases in newborns and the provision of free treatment under the “100 Million Health” initiative that was launched on July 13, announced the Health and Population Ministry.

As many as 42 centers were established nationwide to examine 19 genetic diseases in newborns in the incubators of the ministry’s hospitals nationwide in accordance with the initiative, said Health Ministry Spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar in statements Thursday.

Head of the Health Care and Nursing Sector Wael Abdel Razek, meanwhile, said the 19 diseases that are detected include congenital hypothyroidism, congenital adrenal hyperplasia, folic anaemia, cystic fibrosis, hereditary hyperlipidaemia, phenylketonuria, and tetraplegic deficiency hydropetrin.

The examination is carried out by taking a blood sample from the child’s ankle and analyzing it through the Egyptian Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, which is provided with a laboratory equipped with the latest international devices in the field of detecting genetic diseases, he added.

Sokhna port gears up to receive world’s fantasia-class cruise ship

The Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) said the Ain Sokhna port is gearing up to receive the world’s fantasia-class cruise ship MSC Splendida which is due to reach the port in the beginning of the coming week.

The giant cruise liner can carry up at least 1,500 tourists of various nationalities.

Within this context, the port received MSC Sinfoia ship carrying 1,507 tourists coming from Greece.

Walid Gamal el Din, SCZONE Chairman, said the authority is laying down a clear plan to benefit from its ports in activating tourism.

Investments for communications sector estimated at EGP 67.1 billion in FY 2022-2023

Planning and Economic Development Minister Hala el Saaed said investments allocated for the communications and information technology sector are estimated at 67.1 billion pounds in Fiscal Year 2022-2023, with an increase of 15% compared to investments in the previous year.

This came in a report issued by the ministry on the targets and investments of the communications and information technology sector during FY 2022/2023.

She said this vital sector plays an important role in enhancing sustainable development as modern means of technology stimulate investment and production.

According to the report, the ICT output is likely to increase by 20 percent at current prices and 14.3% at steady prices.

The sector’s contribution to the GDP is expected to rise from 2.5 percent to 5 percent in two years while outsourcing services are expected to surpass 6 billion dollars against 3.5 billion dollars in 2021/2022.

About the sector’s accomplishments in 2021, the report said it achieved a 16-percent growth rate against 15.2 percent in 2019/2020 while digital exports were up from 4.1 billion dollars in 2019/2020 to 4.5 billion dollars in 2020/2021.

According to Bridging the Digital Divide report, issued by Roland Berger, Egypt jumped 43 places in Roland Berger’s GSMA Mobile Money Regulatory Index in 2020, ranking 36th, compared to the 79th in 2019.

Egypt, Iraq discuss air transport cooperation

Egypt is keen on promoting cooperation with Iraq in the spheres of training and aircraft maintenance, said Civil Aviation Minister Mohamed Abbas Helmy.

The minister also underlined the depth of ties binding Egypt and Iraq, particularly in the air transport field.

The minister’s remarks came during his meeting Thursday 24/11/2022 with Iraqi Transport Minister Razzaq al Saadawi along with his accompanying delegation.

The meeting was held to probe aspects of cooperation and ways of boosting partnership between the two countries.

Iraqi Ambassador to Egypt Ahmed Nayef al Dulaimi along with a host of the ministry’s leaderships attended the meeting.

For his part, the Iraqi minister said he was delighted to hold this fruitful meeting, voicing appreciation for the support provided by the civil aviation ministry to the Iraqi transport sector.

He also reaffirmed that Egypt and Iraq enjoy strong, deep and historical relations.

The minister, meanwhile, said he looks forward to enhancing cooperation between Egypt and Iraq.

Quseir holds talks with Chadian min. on cooperation vistas

Agriculture Minister Sayyed Quseir had talks on Thursday 24/11/2022 with Chadian Minister for Livestock and Animal Production Abderahim Awat Atteib on means of enhancing bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, Quseir underlined the depth of bilateral ties, highlighting the the president’s directives to offer continued support to African sisterly countries.

Qusier referred to the natural wealth of Chad, especially the great animal wealth from which the benefit can be magnified through supporting veterinary medicine, accrediting slaughterhouses and promoting high-quality fodder industry.

He noted that Egypt and Chad can cooperate in dairy production, adding that Egypt can export vaccines to Chad.

For his part, the Chadian minister lauded the agricultural progress in Egypt, noting that there are several obstacles hampering the development of the animal sector, including climate change and overgrazing.

Travel and Leisure: Egypt is one of the best tourist destinations in 2023

Under the title “The 50 Best Places to Travel in 2023”, the Travel and Leisure tourism website prepared a list that includes destinations.

According to the criteria and categories set by the website including cultural riches, foods, landscapes, beaches, and others, Egypt has topped a list of other destinations and was among the best cultural tourism destinations.

The website highlighted the most prominent elements of Egypt, referring to the imminent opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, which is located close to the Pyramids of Giza, which included many archaeological treasures, as well as outdoor gardens and a spacious squares where visitors can enjoy a distinct and different tourist experience.

The website also highlighted the luxurious Nile cruises, and the recovery witnessed by the hotel sector, states that the international chain hotels are scheduled to open soon in Egypt, confirming that one of the most prominent destinations tourists can visit now is the Valley of the Kings, Luxor.
